For anyone who has been living on a desert island since the turn of the decade, tablets are small, thin personal computers that utilise a touch screen and in some cases a built in gyroscope instead of a keyboard and mouse to interface with their user. At the time of writing there are three realistic options for tablets in the UK logically grouped by their operating syst.

Many manufacturers have adopted Android as the operating system adopted by many phone and tablet manufacturers including Samsung, Sony, Cisco, Archos, Amazon Kindle and Asus to mention just a few. Prices start from £60.00 for a 7 inch model and can go up to £600.00 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 inch 64GB with Wi-Fi and 3G. Microsoft are expected to release their version of the tablet software, Windows 8, later this year on the Nokia tablet. At the moment this is still unconfirmed but watch this space. |
